Kemper CAT

Smoke Filtration Tower
How is it possible that such an innovation only entered the market recently?
KEMPER introduced the CAT in 2013, and it was initially met with skepticism. The concept seemed almost too good to be true: a mobile, 3.6-meter-high, solid filtration module equipped with a long-lasting, high-performance ePTFE filter. Plug and play – and this time, it actually works.
A strong sales record and growing base of satisfied customers have proven the doubters wrong. CAT units are already in use across Europe – including Finland – and the number of users keeps increasing. The tower is ideal for variable and mobile welding and grinding tasks – environments where a traditional extraction arm system simply wouldn’t make sense.
Local Extraction, Redefined
Think of the CAT as a local air purifier. With a suction capacity of 6,000 m³/h and a 10-meter radius (depending on conditions), the tower creates a localized microclimate. It draws in polluted air from around 3.5 meters height in a full 360° circle, passes it through the highly efficient KEMPER ePTFE filter, and returns clean, filtered air gently back to the workspace – at about shin height. The exhaust flow rate is carefully optimized: any stronger, and it would stir up dust from the floor.
The system is not designed to clean smoke already floating near the ceiling – and that’s deliberate. Trying to remove welding smoke from high altitudes is typically a costly and ineffective endeavor. Moving such large air volumes creates turbulence and usually leads to poor results – especially for the people working down on the shop floor.
Mobility & Ease of Use

Another standout feature of the CAT is its mobility. Unlike most comparable systems, it requires no ductwork – which not only reduces cost but preserves full portability. Simply move the CAT to where the action is, plug it into a 32A power socket, connect compressed air, hit the power button, and you’re good to go.
The tower is highly stable – you won’t knock it over with a casual bump. It’s also remarkably quiet and, most importantly, fully automatic. Start it in the morning, stop it in the evening – that’s it.
For easy relocation, the CAT comes equipped with crane lifting eyes at the top.
