PlasmaFil is a filter unit specially designed for thermal cutting machines
It operates on a principle that differs from traditional units. Its filters are vertical, large-surface-area plate filters. This arrangement results in an exceptionally long filter lifespan compared to all cartridge filters. The plate filters also allow for efficient and easily automated filter cleaning.
Because PlasmaFil operates at a relatively high working pressure, it is particularly suitable for demanding fume extraction applications, such as those often found in plasma cutting tables. The unit’s tower-like design allows it to occupy a relatively small floor space, and piping can be freely routed quite high, which further facilitates placement of the device. The waste collection unit is equipped with convenient plastic bags to simplify daily maintenance.
The size and model range of PlasmaFil units covers a wide spectrum, with standard models ranging from 2000 m³/h up to 18,000 m³/h, featuring very small increments in power ratings, and some models physically available in different sizes based on filter surface area. Hundreds of these KEMPER units are already in use across Finland in a wide variety of applications. Their startup controls can be fully automated. KEMPER’s ePTFE filter material is ideal especially for laser applications and ensures a long filter service life as well as first-class filtration performance.
In plasma and oxyfuel cutting applications, PlasmaFil is intended to be installed together with the SparkTrap spark arrester. The SparkTrap acts as a pre-separator, reducing the load on the filter material by up to 30%, thus significantly extending the filter material’s service life.

Whenever welding or cutting air filtration is involved, there is always a risk of fire in the filter unit. Ordinary sparks or metal splatter, even if they look dramatic at times, are relatively harmless in terms of fire risk. They rarely contain materials that sustain combustion. However, accidents do happen—for example, a worker’s protective glove might fall through the cutting grates, catch fire, and be drawn into the filter along with the smoke gases. In such cases, the fire risk is obvious and often explosive due to the abundant oxygen supply.
The SparkTrap is designed to prevent these situations. It stops sparks and other combustible materials from entering the filter ducts almost 100%. Additionally, it acts as a pre-separator, reducing the load on the filters by approximately 30%, thereby extending their service life. In practical use, we have found that it pays for itself before the second filter change—few would want to put a price on fire safety.

KEMPER DustEvac

DustEvac is an automatic and contamination-free dust removal system designed for filtration units equipped with dust collection containers. This dust removal system enables continuous operation of the filter system without downtime caused by cleaning or dust removal. DustEvac permanently removes dust from the filtration system into a BigBag “bulk bag” using a vacuum conveyor. This process is completely contamination-free, and the dust collected in the bag can be safely transported away, for example, by forklift.
